Student Support Network Advocates For The Summer SNAP For Children Program

Student Support Network founder Laurie Taylor-Mitchell testified at the Budget Town Hall meeting in the 6th District, held at Parkville High School. The Network is requesting more funds from the County for the Summer SNAP for Children Program, which provides $100 in supplemental food assistance for children living in extreme poverty in Baltimore County.

The Network is advocating for our youngest children in poverty (ages 0-5) to be included in the program – $30 a month during the summer and $10 for the winter break. These funds go directly on to the food cards of families already qualifying for SNAP, no additional overhead costs. To qualify for SNAP, the income for a family of three cannot exceed about $32,000 a year.
