Student Support Network Welcomes New Board Member

Welcome to our newest board member, Veneeta Eason!  Veneeta comes to us from BD Integrated Diagnostic Solutions, headquartered in Sparks, MD, bringing with her an impressive skill set in marketing and strategic growth.  Read on to learn about why the Network’s mission personally resonates with her.

  • What are your favorite books? “Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less” by Greg McKeown and “Thoughtfully Ruthless: The Key to Exponential Growth” by Val Wright. They’re both great resources to help you decide what’s important and better focus your time and energy so you can contribute in the best way possible to what really matters.
  • What is your best school-related memory? Performing the lead in my high school production of the musical Purlie Victorious. It tells the story of a preacher in the South intent on opening a church and ringing the bell of freedom. Turns out, I’m a pretty decent singer!
  • What’s your favorite sports team? I’m a Wolverine from the University of Michigan, through and through. Go Blue!
  • Why did you want to join the SSN board? I was invited to represent BD at an SSN fundraising event that we were sponsoring. I got to talking with attendees and SSN leaders about the amazing things SSN is doing to support students and families in need. I know what it feels like, wanting and needing more but having to live in the ‘is’ and could have benefited from an organization like SSN. Children who come from environments where the norm is scarcity rather than plenty creates an unnecessary barrier to learning. I’m genuinely honored to have the opportunity to help this wonderful organization build and grow an infrastructure that is scalable and to support families today that probably look a lot like my family did.
